A CrossFit Dictionary for Beginners

If you’re interested in CrossFit but are a little intimidated by all of the unique CrossFit acronyms and terminology, here’s a brief glossary of some of those abbreviations you come across in the CrossFit universe. Don’t worry, it’s not supposed to be intimidating, just think of it as a form of shorthand to make training more efficient.

 

AHAP: As heavy as possible

AMAP: As many reps as possible

 

CFWU: CrossFit warm-up

COG: Center of gravity

CTB: Chest to bar

DB: Dumbell

 

DL: Deadlift

EMOTM: Every minute on the minute

FS: Front squat

GTG: Grease the groove

GWOD: Gymnastics workout of the day

H2H: Hand to hand

 

HSPU: Handstand pushup

KB: Kettlebell

MHR: Maximum heart rate

MP: Military press

 

OHS: Overhead squat

PC: Power clean

PR: Personal record

PSN: Power snatch

 

RDL: Romanian deadlift

ROM: Range of motion

SN: Snatch

SQ: Squat

SS: Starting strength

SWOD: Strength workout of the day

T2B: Toes to bar

 

TGU: Turkish get-up

TNG: Touch and go

WOD: Workout of the day

YBF: You’ll be fine
